FAQs

Will my counselling be confidential?

The counselling service is fully confidential, except when it’s deemed that you could be a threat to yourself or someone else.

How many sessions are recommended?

This is up to the individual as they ultimately determine how many sessions they want, but the general consensus is that six to ten sessions would be the minimum deemed beneficial for change to occur. Each counselling session is 50-60 minutes long and takes place by appointment only.

What if I do not keep an appointment?

If you give 24 hours notice before a session that you are unable to attend you will not be charged for that session, otherwise you will normally have to pay the full fee.

Will counselling suit me?

Counselling can be uncomfortable at the start and there can be no guarantees. Sometimes things can feel worse before they get better, however, if you can persevere and continue to examine and challenge your thinking, you may find that the payoff of change will enrich your life.

Maybe my issue is not that major?

No issue is too minor if it impacts negatively on your ability to live well in you own eyes. If it is causing anxiety or upset, counselling can help work towards resolution.
